About
MS4 Matt Van de Graaf will lead us in a journal club on the spread of HIV as well as the reaction to HIV & AIDS, both in the United States and abroad.
We will begin with a discussion of the HIV epidemic and epidemic response in the United States. From there, we will consider how the populations affected by HIV differ when comparing the epidemics in the USA to those in other countries. We will then consider how the work of non-governmental organizations disproved the common perception that treating HIV abroad could not be cost-effective. To round out the discussion and leave us each with takeaway points to carry into our clinical practice, we will discuss an influential study in HIV Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis and the clinical applications of PrEP.
