About

This pathway was started to address the community's need for vital emergency response knowledge and training.

Bystander CPR focuses on teaching community members how to respond in the event of a cardiac arrest with the goal of increasing the number of students and laypeople trained in CPR, increasing the local bystander CPR rate, and decreasing the number of deaths arising from witnessed cardiac arrest in Hampton Roads.

Community Stroke Awareness focuses on training community members on how to recognize and respond to strokes with the goal of increasing the number of ASLS trained students, laypeople, and caregivers, thus decreasing the number of stroke deaths in Hampton Roads.

Stop the Bleed focuses on teaching community members how to stop traumatic bleeding through the appropriate use of tourniquets and pressure application techniques with the goal of increasing the number of trained students and laypeople in order to reduce the number of preventable deaths from exsanguination in Hampton Roads.

EMS provides training to potential emergency personnel.
