Filipin@ American Medicine (FAM)

About

The mission of this organization is to spread awareness about Filipin@-American (Fil-Am) health disparities and educate members of Fil-Am cultural competency as Virginia has one of the largest Filipinx populations in the United States. We as an organization plan to foster mentorship between and provide networking opportunities for medical students, allied health care professional students, pre-med and health undergraduates, and practicing health professionals within the Fil-Am community; assess and address health-related needs of the Hampton Roads Fil-Am community through research and quality improvement projects; and provide outreach to the community through organized initiatives such as health fairs and preventative screenings. We would love for you to join us, click here for our interest form! You do NOT have to be Filipinx to join, just be driven to understand the population you will eventually treat as there is a large population of Filipinx in this community!
